Every guide on AC Guided is written to help homeowners and drivers understand their air conditioners and fix common problems safely. This page explains how we create, review and update our content.

Who Writes Our Content

Our content is led by Alex Blake, an HVAC technician with more than 15 years of hands-on experience with central air systems, ductless mini-splits, window and portable units, heat pumps and automotive AC. Every article is written or reviewed with that practical, in-the-field perspective.

How We Research

  • We start from real problems readers search for, such as error codes, strange noises, leaks and poor cooling.
  • We cross-check facts against manufacturer service manuals, product documentation and recognized industry sources such as ENERGY STAR and the U.S. Department of Energy.
  • We explain the likely causes in order, from the simplest DIY checks to the repairs that need a licensed professional.
  • We clearly flag safety risks and tasks that should never be attempted without proper training or certification.

Keeping Guides Accurate

HVAC technology, efficiency standards and refrigerants change over time. We regularly review our articles and update them when models, codes or best practices change. If you spot something that looks wrong or outdated, please let us know and we will review it promptly.

Independence

AC Guided is supported by advertising. Advertisers have no influence over what we write, and we never accept payment for positive coverage. Our goal is simple: give you clear, honest advice that helps you keep cool.

Corrections

When we make a mistake, we correct it as quickly as possible and update the article.
